Longest Run
author unknown
as sung by Jimmy Simpson and the Oilfield Boys
~
There's a mighty rough road
Up Canada way, it's called the longest run.
It winds it's way from Dawson Creek
to the land of the Midnight sun.
~
I've hauled everything on the Longest Run
From gasoline to beer.
~
There's no red lights
No stop signs
A few gaurd rails
And no whitelines.
~
You gotta have a mighty good truck
A whole lot of luck
To make the run on time.
(I have been looking for this music for a long time. Lyrics just per my recall.
Please respond if you know the group or the music and have info to
put me on the trail of discovery.)

This was a "spin off" song from "Witchita Lineman" by Glenn Campbell. He wrote the song in hopes that it would also go "gold" but then they discovered tha the had taken the entire words to the song from a poem written by Robert Service. Because of this helost allof his popularity and he last anythig was seen of him was getting a mug shot taken in Phoenix for DWI. "I was a lineman for the county, Now I walk the line of shame in my pink panties as I am doing time in Phoenix".
